I salvaged several Saltillo Tiles from a neighbor's curbside and completed three pieces of art shown here. Each has several coats of UV Clear Coat varnish for permanence with a thin corkboard backing.

Painted Segmented Vase
My brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Debbie, craft beautiful segmented vases and bowls . My wife, Joan, suggested purchasing one as a Christmas gift for my mother. Jim proposed a collaboration... he would make the vase, I would paint a scene. This seven inch vase was the result. With only about 3 1/2 inch square of curved "canvas" to work with, it was a challenge. I chose the historic San Francisco de Asís Parish Church in Ranchos de Taos, New Mexico, hoping it would evoke memories of my mother's childhood. Oh, my 84 year old mother loved it.
