Painted Segmented Vase

My brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Debbie, craft beautiful segmented vases and bowls. My wife, Joan, suggested purchasing one as a Christmas gift for my mother. Jim proposed a collaboration... he would make the vase, I would paint a scene. This seven inch vase was the result. 

With only about 3 1/2 inch square of curved "canvas" to work with, it was a challenge. I chose the historic San Francisco de Asís Parish Church in Ranchos de Taos, New Mexico, hoping it would evoke memories of my mother's childhood.
